To whomever this might concern,
we, family of 4, baby and 6 year old, wanted to have a sushi in this place.
When we've arrived, a guy (I've assumed him to be a seater/host) told us to wait couple minutes as the place was "full" and disappears. Our son was sleeping in the stroller.
While waiting, we've noticed that some places (4-5 on one side and 3-4 on the other side of the conveyor belt) are not occupied. So I've approached the first couple in the corner and asked them, politely, if it would be ok for them to move so we, because of the stroller, can sit at the end of the conveyor belt. Immediately, the guy showed up and said that we cannot do this, he will find a place for us. We just need to wait for couple of minutes. Ok, I've apologized to the couple and the guy and we've waited again.
Another group arrives...
In the meanwhile two groups of people stood up and left the place, and the guy is standing in the back talking.
Finally he comes to us and informs us that, after they clean the table, we can have it. This is aprox. 10-15 mins after we've arrived. Our daughter (6 year old), inpatient, approaches the table immediately. Then he turns and tells us that "we can have the table after it is made ready". Ok, we wait again.
Finally we sat at the table. I've placed the stroller at the end of the conveyor belt, leaving space (~70cm) for other people to pass. The guy shows up again and says that stroller cannot be left here. It has to be folded. He asks, without looking at the stroller, if there is a baby in the stroller. One glance at the stroller would be sufficient to get this question answered. I've confirmed that there is a baby sleeping in the stroller. Then we continued that people have to pass here and we have to fold the stroller... This is the point we've decided to leave. We've thanked him and informed him that we are leaving. This was 15-20min after we've arrived.
After we've packed again, as the guy was almost on the other side of the room, I've "called" him with a hand gesture (didn't yell or raise my voice). I wanted to share my experience and opinion what a good seater/host should have done. This/hand gesture has turned him up. With raised voice he said: people have to have manners, level of education, etc. I’ve tried to communicate but as no conversation was possible, we've thanked him for a "good" service and left the place.
I am of opinion that the good seater/host is a solution provider and not a problem creator.
I would have expected that upon our arrival the guy should have greeted us, informed us that the place is (let's say) full, offer us to have a seat in the corner, and let us know that as soon as there is place we'll be seated. In addition, he could have informed us that, due to lack of space, we'll need to take the baby out and fold the stroller. Upon which, as our son was sleeping we would thank for info and left the place. This would have saved all of us from this/tensions/precious time.
FYI we went to the Marco Polo place in Landstrasse 2, on the 1st floor, next to the cinema. Plenty of space, good food, good...
Read moreTHEY ARE NOT ONLY RUDE AND ARROGANT IN PERSON, BUT ALSO ONLINE. PLEASE READ THEIR REPLY BELOW! FUNNY THING IS THAT I AM LITERALLY A MANAGER OF A HIGH-VOLUME RESTAURANT IN NEW YORK… My sister and I were visiting Vienna and wanted to try a spot where locals go to eat and hang out on a Saturday evening. We found this cute little sushi place so we decided to go there for dinner. We only arrived to the city a few hours before so we did not think about making a reservation. We walked in and an employee rushed to ask us if we had a reservation. We said we did not have one so she told us we need to come back later. We were hanging around in the restaurant for a few more minutes. The lady came back to us to ask again if we wanted to wait because she has two reservations for 6 people in total. We said yes, we would like to. During that short time of our conversation 4 people left from the “bar” side and also a party of 3 people from a 4 seats table. At that time the restaurant had two tables available, each for 4 people and also 4 empty seats on the “bar” side. We were still patiently waiting to be seated when the lady showed up again with a disturbingly surprised facial impression and asked “ARE YOU STILL WAITING?” She made us feel like we were bothering her by standing and waiting for being seated. The restaurant literally had 4+4+4 empty seats which is double of the reservation she was explaining about. Unfortunately this was not our first disappointing expereince on this short visit in Wien. This city still needs to learn a lot about how to treat the visitors who come there to spend money and enjoy...
Read moreOn Sunday (04.09.) we went there for having lunch. We had no reservation and we couldn’t eat there. We were invited to come back at 2:30 pm, ‘cause “apparently” there was no availability at 1:30pm.
Then we waited outside for another play to eat and in the meanwhile other guests (3 pax) came in without reservation. How can I know it? I just eavesdropped…
The waitress found a place for them (a table for 4 - that other guests have just left, in the time we were also there).
I asked for an explanation, as they had no reservation, why they got a table. The surprised waitress looked astonished and in a very rude/impolite way told us: “there are just sitting there till 2 pm” without eating…
I was not born yesterday!
She could have done the same with us, but we were just two and not three/four.
I have been there so many times in the past and I was so excited to come back with guests and friends of...
